House Of Mo #14

House of mo

I watched him rummage in his favourite corner of the room, looking for something. I wondered what he was up to this time. There was almost always something happening here at the House. A new phone arriving. A new accessory to try out. Or a new mobile experiment. Sometimes, I think that he is lost in his own world of mobile gadgets and services. This evening, he was everywhere. I could read some excitement about him too. Something was definitely up.

While he went about whatever his business was, I let my eyes and mind wander a bit. The television screen was alive and flicking through frame after frame of a soap that no-one was paying attention to. The TV volume was on mute. Mrs. Mo’s voice could be heard from her kitchen studio where she churned out not only good food but passably good music. I once overheard Mo teasing her about her days in a church choir years before I existed. The Mo kids were grinding away at their homework as they did at this time every evening.

Relaxing there on the sofa within arm’s reach of our joint lord and master, Mo, Q was silent. 610 was nowhere in sight, but that was nothing new. He wasn’t seen much these days, as he was hardly ever needed by Mo. I was an arm’s length from Q himself and lounging on a side table. This put Q between me and Mo. Looking from one to the other, it occurred to me that I’ve been pretty dormant since Q’s arrival days ago. With the exception of the odd telephone call that Mo had received and initiated on me in the last few days, he had barely touched me. Q, on the other hand, had been super active, almost never leaving Mo’s hands. Mo has kept on using him for his blogging, social networking, email and instant messaging exclusively since his arrival. Errr… that’s about all that Mo uses his mobile for on the average day. As such, I have been really idle. I wonder if I haven’t put on some weight from just lounging.

My thoughts stayed on this realisation as I looked on. Q laid there silently, while Mo opened up a drawer and fished out a small box. He placed the box on the floor at his feet. Then in his hands was a pair of wired headsets which he proceeded to fold and place neatly in the box. Then a charging adapter and a USB cable. I sort of stared absentmindedly as all this went on. It was when Mo turned to pick me up that my chip seemed to come to terms with what was going on. He navigated to the Settings menu and found the Factory Data Reset menu. In shock, I took another look at the box he had been stuffing minutes earlier…. It had my name on it – Sony Xperia P. There was an image of me on it too. That was the box that I came in! I was being packed away to be sent off!!

Damn you, Q! No!!!! No! Mo! You can’t do this!!! I screamed but no-one heard. Not Mo. Not Q. No-one.

His forefinger tapped on my display a couple of times and I blanked out…….
